THE EXOTIC NORTH

Due to its beaches and the year-round climate with little rainfall
the north has become the most important tourist region.
The sea here is almost always calm and clear
and it is not far to interesting excursion destinations.
The most important holiday resort in the north-west
is the once dreamy fishing village of Grand Baie.
Since then, however, the town has developed rapidly,
without losing its charm.
The most beautiful stretches of beach in the area
(Pointe aux Canonniers, Trou aux Biches, Balaclava
Péreybère and Cap Malheureux)
accommodation was subsequently built.
Some larger luxury resorts of the international top class,
but also smaller hotels in the three- or four-star category,
as well as many cosy family guesthouses
offer accommodation in all price categories.
Those who like to dine in good restaurants on holiday,
can find plenty of them between Port Louis and Goodlands.
